LG and NVIDIA signed an agreement to start building new robots, smarter factories, and better car computers. They are making a two-legged robot that they plan to show the public early next year.

“As our discussions have moved fast, our tasks and goals in AI Factory and Physical AI have become clear,” Kwang Mo Koo, Chairman and CEO of LG Corp., said. “We will accelerate the spread of AI by building industry-leading references.”

Putting Robots on the Factory Floor

The new humanoid robot runs on NVIDIA’s software, including a system called Isaac GR00T. LG is making the physical parts, like batteries and sensors.

This year, LG is sending wheeled robots called LG CLOiD to work at their Tennessee washing machine plant. They want to test them in a real factory. If it works out, LG will put these robots into more factories, stores, and homes. They are also setting up a data system called PhysicalWorks to help train the machines.

“The defining opportunity of physical AI is to give every machine the ability to understand the real world, reason and act safely alongside people — reshaping everyday life from the home and factory floor to the road,” Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, said. “Building on years of collaboration, LG and NVIDIA are combining LG’s leadership in product engineering and manufacturing with NVIDIA technology to accelerate the next era of robots, AI factories and autonomous vehicles.”

Smarter Factories and Cars

Beyond robots, LG and NVIDIA will build an AI factory test site by 2027. Then, by 2028, they plan to open a massive 80-megawatt factory in South Korea. This can help you understand how much power they need to train these new systems.

LG is also using NVIDIA’s systems to build a new computer platform for vehicles. This mixes self-driving tech with the screens and software inside the car.
