Apple has launched Apple HomeView, a new dedicated smart home hub with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display on a domed speaker base. As Apple puts it, the device is designed to bring together smart home control, entertainment, and communication, and it will recognize individual family members to ensure your personal data remains secure.

Apple HomeView is now officially open for preorder, and the official release is due November 13th.

HomeView uses facial recognition to identify up to six family members. When a recognized user approaches the front door, the interface switches from the standard home dashboard to display that user’s individual Messages, FaceTime calls, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My.

To protect family privacy, sensitive content appears only when the device recognizes your face and your paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and unlocked.

“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “It recognizes your face to shift from a household screen to your own experience, fills the room with incredible sound, keeps you connected to the people who matter most with FaceTime, and makes it easy to control your smart home. And it’s powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI at its core, drawing on personal context from your iPhone to help you find what you need and get more done, all while keeping everyone’s information private and secure.”

Siri AI and Smart Home Integration

At HomeView’s core is Siri AI, an upgraded assistant powered by Apple Silicon and Apple Intelligence. It has a wide range of world knowledge, improved conversational skills, and onscreen awareness. When connected to an Apple Intelligence-enabled device, it can access your personal context across apps such as Messages and Music to deal with more complex requests. A conversation you start on HomeView can also be carried across your Apple devices via iCloud.

Beyond the voice controls, it serves as a full-scale smart home hub with screen functions, camera feeds, thermostat controls, and security alerts. It’s integrated with the new Apple Home Collection range of accessories (developed by LG Electronics and Schneider Electric), as well as third-party Matter devices.

For the most flexible installation options, Apple offers the tabletop model in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space grey. A wall-mounted version in space grey and silver is also available (with mounting hardware from Schneider Home).
