The island was first discovered during a geoarchaeological survey of the coast of Vanua Levu in 2017.


The underwater timelapse camera was set up to monitor the growth and living conditions of the area’s resident coral.


Over the course of the six-hour flyby, the crew made observations of an area that has rarely ever been seen with the naked human eye.
